EAMI 2024 Conference
In September 2024, I had the pleasure of presenting at the European Association of Music and Imagery 2024 conference.
Guided Imagery and Music is a beautiful, music-centered form of psychotherapy, one that I feel incredibly grateful to practice.
However, the road to this point has been full of twists, turns, and unexpected experiences of gender-based microaggressions—experiences that have had a deep impact, as they came from program directors, supervisors, trainers, and fellow students. As a result, I was invited to create a workshop for music therapists at the conference on how Guided Imagery and Music can contribute to processes of reconciliation.
What began as standing up for myself quickly turned into advocating for all marginalized identities. Fifteen brave and courageous music therapists participated in person, with a few others joining online.
Through this workshop, I found allies and community, and for that, I am deeply grateful.
